With the recent announcement of MLB PP 2009 in Japan, will we be seeing a stateside release as well? I know the game has sold pretty well, in fact I heard that the 2008 edition greatly outsold the 2007 game. Will we see a sequel? This is THE baseball game I wait for all year.

I'd like to know this too. And even more so, if it is online.
I skipped 2008 because I had 2007 and without online I didn't see the need to get the newest version. |

There are other great additions too in the 2008 version. MyLife is lots of fun and the Success mode is completely different from 2007. That being said, I can understand your complaints, but I'm about 80% sure that the Japanese reticence regarding online play and the platforms that the game will be launching on will prevent true online play. We'll see what actually happens. I know I'd be satisfied just with online roster updates, but I know that others wouldn't.
I look forward to the day when they start launching this game on the PS3 in Japan. That will be sweet. |

But more importantly....is this game coming to the U.S.? I enjoyed PP2008 on the DS if you can believe that. Still I loved the easy to learn gameplay and it reminded me a little of the great Baseball Stars from the NES days.
While trying to decide between MLB2K9 and MLB 09 the Show, I just might pick up PP2009 over both of them! |

I don't see why it wouldn't come to the US. 07 and 08 did well as far as I know. The problem is these games don't come out until July, but I would imagine we would hear details soon.
Sports games and online play just go hand and hand now. I especially want it because in 07 I played with a group of 6 friends with a running league which was insanely fun keeping track of stats, records, etc. And now that I moved it's hard to get 6 people for a league. Online play would fix that. |

Even though I extremely doubt they will import it, it's be an excellent site to see! Also, if they include online play to American versions of MLB Power Pros 2009 (all on assumption) and beyond (I.E. 2010, 2011, etc.), that would greatly kick up the Power Pros series' awesomeness!! However, I only see exhibition and Home Run Derby going on for "online-anytime games" (like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and it's online capabilities). But, seeing something like monthly tournaments, Success Mode online and a "SMVP" (Successive Most Valuable Player (best player to be posted on MLB Power Pros 2009's data base) would really go right up my alley! I mean, come on, who WOULDN'T like that!?

The thing of it is, as with the infamous MLB 2k8 for the Wii, I bet money that they bring Power Pros 2009 over here, but then remove the internet game play.
Why do you ask? Well, as some administrator on this very board put it, they didn't know the Wii could even connect to the internet. I mean, that's the reason we didn't get any roster updates on the Wii version of MLB 2k8, correct? So they'd have to rip it out, because they would probably think the Wii is better suited to be a toaster oven. I wish that Konami could get a more competent publisher, one that knew what the Wii actually is and does, not just one trying to get a quick buck from it's gamers. I mean, didn't another admin on this board also say that's what 2k Sports is doing, making shoddy games for the Wii for a quick buck? Right b-Dub? "That could be said for about 60-70% of the games released on the Wii, especially the "ports" of games released for other systems. But when you have the installed user base that the Wii has, you want to try to cash in as best you can with the least amount of effort spent. But the game not having online or roster updates was known for a long time here, so if you bought the game without knowing that, then you didn't do your homework." I hope nobody gets this any of your titles for the Wii, that way you just stop trying to put games on that system, and Power Pros will get picked up by a Publisher who cares about the Wii and it's players. |

the Japanese version not only has Online capabilities but also has a World Baseball Classic license so all the teams, players and parks will be available in the game. I have no idea if it's a WBC mode or the extent of the online play. But if you see the Japanese box it says works online.
![]() Too bad still no signs of Xbox360. Only PS2 and Wii again. |
