Default 2009 Post Season Clutch Performers

My votes:

NATIONAL LEAGUE:
Pitching:

Cliff Lee - completely unstoppable. Although his regular season numbers are mediocre, he needed a "change of scenery" to a different team. The Phillies provided that change of scenery, and has been outstanding so far.

Hitting:

Jayson Werth - remember, I said best "clutch performer" so far. Werth has been just outstanding in the post season. So has Howard, but people expect Howard to bat in runs - not necessarily true with Werth.

AMERICAN LEAGUE:
Pitching:

CC Sabathia - numbers say enough

Hitting:

Alex Rodriguez - although he performed poorly so far in the post season (not Mr. October by a long shot), he has pulled through for his team when they needed him.

When he jacked that homer in Abreu's direction to tie an extra inning game, it was very "fitting" - considering Abreu USED to be a Yankee...ROFL.

After last night I do have to change my mind about Werth and say Howard for NL hitting. A First Inning 2 run homer....and he tied Lou Gehrig's record last night.

Simply amazing.

without question not even close ryan howard in the NL. and i have to say A-rod over in the AL. this will be without question one of the greatest WS match up in a long time. at last we will have a WS that will showcase the best from the NL vs the best of the AL. no fluke teams this year.....just the 2 best!! i can't wait

Howard is the definition of clutch in the World Series.
